Dynamics of sodium in sodium disilicate: channel relaxation and sodium diffusion.
We use molecular-dynamics computer simulations to study the dynamics of amorphous (Na2O)2(SiO2). We find that the Na ions move in channels embedded in a SiO2 matrix. The characteristic distance between these channels gives rise to a prepeak in the structure factor at q approximately equal to 0.95 A(-1). The dynamics of sodium is given by a fast process which can be seen in the incoherent scatte...
متن کاملThe structural relaxation of molten sodium disilicate
We use molecular dynamics computer simulations to study the relaxation dynamics of Na2O–2(SiO2) in its molten, highly viscous state. We find that at low temperatures the incoherent intermediate scattering function for Na relaxes about 100 times faster than the one of the Si and O atoms. In contrast to this all coherent functions relax on the same time scale if the wave–vector is around 1Å. This...
متن کاملThe Structure and Dynamics of Sodium Disilicate
We investigate the structure and dynamics of sodium disilicate by means of molecular dynamics computer simulation. We show that the structure is described by a partially destroyed tetrahedral SiO 4 network and a spherical super structure formed by the silicon and sodium atoms. The static structure factor of our simulation is in very good agreement with one from a neutron scattering experiment. ...
متن کاملSodium Channel and Sodium
Levels of sodium pump and of sodium channels were measured at different stages of membrane purification. Microsomal fractions of normal human muscle have maximal binding capacities for tetrodotoxin of 230 fmol/mg of protein and of 7.4 pmol/mg of protein for ouabain. Dissociation constant for the complexes formed by the tetrodotoxin derivative and by ouabain with their respective receptors were ...
متن کاملApproximate Bisimulations for Sodium Channel Dynamics
We show that in the context of the Iyer et al. 67-variable cardiac myocycte model (IMW), it is possible to replace the detailed 13-state probabilistic model of the sodium channel dynamics with a much simpler Hodgkin-Huxley (HH)-like two-state sodium channel model, while only incurring a bounded approximation error. The technical basis for this result is the construction of an approximate bisimu...
